The new Jeep Wrangler keeps the removable doors and roof that make it an icon, while the Jeep Gladiator pairs that same open-air freedom with a bed. The Gladiator's standard 3.6L V6 is rated to tow up to 7,700 pounds when properly equipped, with a maximum payload around 1,720 pounds, enough for tools, gear, or a weekend trip hauling a boat out of Chesapeake. Want something more compact? The Jeep Compass offers a 2.0L turbo four rated at 200 horsepower and can tow up to an estimated 2,000 pounds, a reasonable daily driver for the commute into Suffolk or Norfolk.

On the truck side, the Ram 1500 offers a wide engine range, from the 3.6L Pentastar V6 up to a twin-turbo Hurricane inline-six rated to tow an estimated 11,610 pounds when properly equipped. The Ram 2500 comes standard with a 6.4L HEMI® V8 and offers an available 6.7L Cummins turbo-diesel rated up to 20,000 pounds of towing when properly configured.
